Giving and legacy are terms that have been impressed upon me my entire life. All of my grandparents spent their retired years giving back to their communities and organizations that were important to them, both through gifts of time and monetary donations. As I have gotten older, I am able to truly see the impact that these gifts had on these organizations and the legacy that my grandparents were able to leave behind. I have often thought about the legacy I want to leave behind within the organizations that have been most impactful to my life. Chi Omega has had a huge impact on my life, as the daughter and granddaughter of two Kappa Gamma Chapter/Ohio Wesleyan Initiates, Chi Omega’s six purposes were instilled upon me at a young age.

The leadership skills I gained throughout my collegiate years as an Initiate of the Rho Beta Chapter/Drake, are invaluable, as they have helped me attain so many personal and professional goals. And to be part of an organization that allows alumnae, like myself, to participate in The Nancy Walton Laurie Leadership Institute of Chi Omega Flagship sessions made me realize the lifelong impact that Chi Omega truly has on its members. In thinking through my legacy, I decided to not only give of my time to Chi Omega, as an Advisor for the Zeta Mu Chapter/Denver, but to also make sure that my legacy lives on through my estate with my planned gift. I want to do my part to make sure that generations of women after me have the same opportunities in Sisterhood that I was given by the generations before me.
